Assessment Outline
第一学期前半段:
Study of popular culture and a short story collection学习流行文化和短篇故事集
文学技巧 : Connotation(含义) in popular culture, Metaphor(暗喻) in popular culture...
写作技巧 : -provision of textual evidence 提供书面证据
-provision of reasoned argument 提供合乎逻辑的论证
-paragraphing of written interpretation 书面解释的分段
分析作品 : Analysis of plot, setting, character, and narrative perspective in short story, and how these convey the writer’s ideas and emotions. Exploration of cultural issues in relation to textual perspectives. 分析短篇小说中的剧情,环境,角色,还有叙事视角,并思考这些元素如何传达了作者的思想与情感。另外,还要去探索故事角度背后的文化事宜。
ASSESSMENT:(占总成绩的5%)一个课堂随堂考试,要求学生根据一篇短篇故事来找出其中的一个中心思想。再举例论证它,并分析其思想背后的文学技巧。
第一学期后半段:
Study of Poetry including学习诗歌
文学技巧 :[这次是诗歌当中的] connotation(含义),metaphor(暗喻)and a variety of other poetic techniques.
写作技巧 :同第一学期前半段,但这里被运用于诗歌当中。
分析作品 :As in Sememter 1A, with the development of more sustained written interpretation and argument. Comparison of technical and thematic aspects of separate poems and poets. Exploration of cultural issues, as Semester 1A.
在第一学期前半学期的基础上,对不同的诗歌和诗人从技术和主体的层面进行比较。同第一学期一样,继续探讨文化的问题。
ASSESSMENT :
(15%)A close reading/writing excercise, of 1000 words in total based on peotry
(15%)根据一首诗歌写一篇1000字的essay
(5%)Poetry group-work project.
(Music/song/spoken word creative pieve)
(5%)小组项match目:选择一首诗,然后根据这首诗歌展现出来的氛围、韵律等元素来剪辑出一段音乐,                       
从而达到匹配。其次要通过oral presentation,来讲述制作过程(例如组员分工),还有对于这首诗和所剪辑的音乐的关系的分析。

第二学期前半段
Study of one novel and some shorter novel extracts in the Gothic genre, including 学习一篇完整的哥特式小说和几篇哥特式小说的节选:
Continued development of methodology as established in Semester 1, with an emphasis on greater depth and sophistication both of interpretation and the written expression of this.
继续提高学生在第一学期建立起来的研究方法,另外更加强调口头和书面表达的深度和熟练In particular, an awareness of how the writers’ use of language creates nuances(细微差别) of meaning and emotion is developed in this term.具体在这个学期,学生会在作者语言的使用上去发现其含义与其带有的情感上的细微差别。
ASSESSMENT
(15%)One essay of 1200 words, based on the novel and/ or short fiction studied
(15%)根据老师给的小说和节选来写一篇1200字的essay
(10%)iMovie Trailer project -  (to be allocated at the end of the year).
Students work in groups to design, script, film and edit a trailer on one significant aspect of the Gothic novel in Semester 2A. A group presentation also contributes to the individual grade for this task.
(10%)小组项目:根据规定的小说,学生以小组为单位来制作(制作工序包括设计,写脚本,编辑等等)一个预告片。为此,学生也需要做一个oral presentation,这个口头报告也关系到学生的个人分数。

第二学期后半段
Study of one Shakespearean drama, including:
学习一篇莎士比亚的戏剧:
Interpretive and analytical skills established during Semester 1A, 1B and 2A.提升学生分析和解释的能力Understanding of the genre of comedy.学习喜剧种类的戏剧Understanding of Shakespearean theatrical conventions and structures, and how these produce meaning.学习莎士比亚的戏剧习俗还有其结构。并且分析这些元素如何对戏剧产生意义。Appreciation of ambiguities generated by Shakespearean poetic language and dramatic techniques.学会欣赏莎士比亚的诗歌语言,和戏剧中运用的喜剧性技巧所产生的歧义。
ASSESSMENT
(15%) One exam-essay of 1000 words, worth 15%
(15%) 考试前老师会给出一些topics/themes, 然后试卷上会有与其对应的问题,并会在后面附上有用的原文摘录。我们需要根据其中一个问题写出一篇1000字的essay。
(5%) Student's attendance & participation mark
(5%) 学生的平时成绩

Assessment Criteria 评分标准
Students will be rewarded primarily for the ability to communicate ideas in lively and interesting ways. This will be assisted by observing the following criteria:
学生被鼓励去使用生动而有趣的方式去讨论观点的能力。这种能力由以下标准来衡量:
Thought and Content思想和内容
(1)Knowledge and understanding of the chosen text理解原文
(2)Relevance关联
(3)Ability to provide evidence to support what you are saying寻找证据
(4)Complexity of ideas and issues explored观点的复杂性和探索其中的问题
Struture and Argument结构和论证
(1)The sequence and coherence of the answer as it develops得出答案的顺序和连贯性
(2)The shape and cohesion of the answer as a whole答案作为一个整体的凝聚力与其形态
(3)The cogency of the argument论证是否中肯
(4)Proper referencing正确的引用
Expression and Style表达和风格
(1)The expressiveness and fluency of the answer回答的表达力还有连贯性
(2)The effectiveness and appropriateness of the language chosen语言运用的有效性和合理性
(3)Striking or imaginative use of language语言使用是否富有想象力
Collusion and plagiarismCollusion and plagiarism will be penalised 共谋和抄袭会受到处罚:
In cases where plagiagrism is suspected but the source cannot to be found, a student may be required to explain their writing orally. If the oral performance is not deemed satisfactory, the assessment may attract a penalty, a lack of documentary proof not with standing.
如果学生被怀疑有抄袭的行为,然后老师又发现不了文章的真实来源,学生极有可能会被要求口头复述自己的文章。如果复述不达标,尽管缺乏证明文件,学生仍有可能被按抄袭处罚因而
For participation component of 10% students are judged by 平时成绩所占的10%取决于:
Their overall attendance, and the quality and consistency of their participation in the organisation, contributions to and presentations of the group project tasks.
课堂出勤,还有在团队中(特指小组项目:预告片&音乐项目)的参与度和相容性。
关于Consultation:LIT如同HOI一样是较为主观的学科,所以应当多找自己的tutor去consult(因为不同的tutor观点也会有一些不同),从而获得可以被他(她)认可的ideas和essay的structure。
